Braid Me Up.

Time to shake up what's on top with a Rodarte inspired punk braid.

What you will need: Straightening irons or curling tongs, light hold hairspraytexturising lotion or mousse, bobby pins, two rubber bands, and one elastic band which matches your hair colour.

Allow your hair to dry naturally after washing. This look can also be done before your hair completely dries.

If your hair is limp put a very soft natural wave into it.

Grab a section on the left side of your head approximately two inches above your ear.

Braid the piece of hair onto the scalp until around five inches in length. After this braid, change into a plaiting technique. Plait the hair until you reach the middle-back section of the scalp. Tie it off with a rubber band.

Do the same on the right side.  Note: if braiding is not your specialty you can plait the hair. If this is the case, make sure your plaiting away from your face and parallel to the floor.

Once completed join the two sections together by taking a third of the hair from each braid. Join them and plait the three sections all together. Next tie the ends with an elastic tie.

Now say goodbye to those rubber bands that you initially used to tie off your side braids. Carefully cut the bands to help blend the two sides together.

Next we move onto some bun fun.

Take a small section of hair from directly underneath where the two sides meet. The section should sit about 3cm wide. Pull this over the plait and with your hot irons curl the section to prepare for the wrap.

Wrap the curled hair around two fingers and then slide your fingers out whilst securing the rosette using either u-pins or bobby pins. Keep this bun looking unfinished and grungy.

With your index finger and thumb loosen the ponytail plait by lightly rubbing two fingers together with the hair in between. Do this for the whole ponytail.

Accessorise with a studded leather head piece, our pick is Valentino.
